GIANT to be Licensed Through R&H Theatricals

Ghostlight Records will release the Original Cast Recording of the acclaimed epic musical GIANTonline and in stores on May 21, 2013. Performance rights for GIANT will be licensed through R&H Theatricals, a division of Rodgers & Hammerstein, an Imagem Company. Applications for performance are not yet being accepted and will be announced at a later date. In the meantime all inquiries should be directed to Theatre@rnh.com. Tavares Strachan Represents the Bahamas Pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition la Biennale di Venezia

The Bahamas, which will host its inaugural pavilion at the 55th International Venice Biennale in 2013, will present Polar Eclipse, a multi-sensory installation by Tavares Strachan that investigates themes of heroic exploration, cultural displacement, oral history, and the shifting of historic narratives over time. Three geographically and culturally disparate sites-the Venice Arsenale, downtown Nassau, and the North Pole-will momentarily coexist in the Bahamian pavilion. The exhibition will exist in two dimensions: as a single, comprehensive installation, and as a collection of individual artworks. Key works will include a 14-channel video, a sound installation, and a selection of neon sculptures.

Showtime Orders AMERICAN DREAM MACHINE Pilot, Michael C. Hall to Executive Produce

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premium cable network has ordered a pilot based upon Matthew Specktor's just-released novel AMERICAN DREAM MACHINE, with Hall serving as an executive producer.

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced that author and co-director of the Acquavella Gallery Michael Findlay, composer Elliot Goldenthal, filmmaker Mira Nair and visual artist Fred Wilson were inducted into the NYFA Hall of Fame on Tuesday, April 23rd at Espace (635 West 42nd Street). GIANT had its New York Premiere at The Public Theater last fall, and was a co-production with Dallas Theater Center. GIANT features music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, and a book by Sybille Pearson, based on the novel by Edna Ferber. The Studio Theatre presents Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies, a story about Sarah, a photo journalist. After being injured by a roadside bomb, she is forced to face the reality of covering tragedies in war, and whether reporters should intervene to try to relieve suffering. Time Stands Still will run Thursday, tonight, March 28 through Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Since 2000, the Studio Theatre has hosted the Louise Heck-Rabi Dramatic Playwriting One Act Festival, encouraging young playwrights to submit their original works. Each year, 6-7 semi-finalists are chosen out of all submissions. The plays are then read at a Workshop, where they are critiqued by judges. Three finalists win a scholarship as well as the opportunity to produce their play in front of a live audience. Each winning playwright has a chance to work with a student director and student performers to realize their productions on the stage.
