Norm Langill, Seattle-based artistic director of Teatro ZinZanni, announced today that the ten-year-old cabaret phenomenon will serve its 1,000,000th and 1,000, 001st guests sometime in the next two weeks.

“It’s hard to believe that a million people have been to our two tents since we started this project back in 1998,” said Langill. “That’s a lot of bowls of soup!”

One lucky guest and his or her party will be selected from an upcoming performance in each city within the next two weeks. He or she will also receive the “Ultimate ZinZanni Package,” and be invited to attend TZ’s Anniversary celebrations in March in San Francisco and in April in Seattle.

Since its original opening in October 1998, Teatro ZinZanni has delighted audiences with its three-hour swirling stream of performance, music and comedy all presented in the elegance and intimate comfort of a beautiful, antique Belgian spiegeltent. Guests are seated restaurant style to watch the show unfold beside, around, and even above their tables as they enjoy a five-course gourmet feast.

Originally hailed by The New York Times critic when it opened in Seattle in October 1998 as “this city’s hottest ticket!”, Teatro ZinZanni has been called “an amazing spectacle, part circus and part nightclub…like the Kit Kat Club on acid. Plus you get dinner!” (San Jose Mercury News).  The Vancouver Province called it “…[an] unique blend of cabaret, world-class cirque and gourmet dining…” and Hemispheres Magazine describes it as “This zany, vaudevillian circus/cabaret sizzles with European sophistication and savoir-faire.”

The San Francisco Chronicle hailed the San Francisco opening in March 2000 as "A hearty, high-concept diversion ... The gorgeous tent and performance highlights are giddy inspirations," and the Contra Costa Times critic declared it “A combination of beauty and absurdity, elegance and zany humor. There’s nothing else like it in town.” KGO Radio critic constantly announces, “It just keeps getting better and better.”

San Francisco’s Teatro ZinZanni is located at Pier 29 on the Embarcadero, and has become a permanent, unique fixture and an integral part of the lively entertainment and culinary scene in The City. The regular weekly schedule is Wednesday - Saturday at 6 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. The five-course gourmet meal is designed by Taste Catering. Tickets ($116-$190) are available on line at zinzanni.org, at the on-site Box Office at Pier 29 on the Embarcadero daily from 12 noon – 6 p.m. or by phone: 415.438.2668.

In Seattle, Teatro ZinZanni is in the heart of Seattle Center’s Theatre District at 222 Mercer Street. With a menu designed by celebrated Northwest chef Tom Douglas, Teatro ZinZanni plays every Wednesday through Sunday evenings. Reservations:  206.802.0015 or at zinzanni.org or at the box office at 222 Mercer Street.
