THE LATE NOW Avant-Variety Talk Show Premieres for One Night Only in Seattle, 10/5

THE LATE NOW, Portland's own avant-variety-talk show with a live studio audience, hosted by Leo Daedalus, is coming to Seattle. After a sold-out debut in April, Daedalus is moving the event north for a wild night interviewing guests from both of the northwest hubs. All happening at West of Lenin in Fremont.

Daedalus gets to the crux of the biscuit with artists, performers, luminaries, and lunatics with America's favorite high-altitude lush, TLN cohost Alex Reagan. The lineup features special guest artists and performers from Seattle, Portland, and even those crazy Netherlands; writer Doug Nufer and game-poetists Interrupture (Seattle), performance/multidisciplinary artist Mimi Allin (Seattle), contemporary choreographer Dora Gaskill (Portland), artist Koen Dijkman live from the Netherlands, plus experimental weatherman James Yeary, Dada dynamiteur Alan Lande (Seattle), and disruptive soundfielders Charles Buckingham and Kim Jong Chill.

The Late Now Band features Seattleites Robertson Witmer (accordion), Pete Remine (bass), and Andy Etue (drums) bringing the patented TLN polyglot cabaret.

A limited number of media tickets are available for Oct. 5. Please reserve in advance.

The Late Now is hosted by polyartist impresario Leo Daedalus, Portland, Oregon-based performer, filmmaker, writer, improviser, comedian, musician, polyglot, and purveyor of Dada/Fluxus mayhem.

Maddened by the institutional inanity of mainstream culture, yet fascinated by its sheer protean relentlessness, The Late Now proposes a world in which "Dada won the war." That's shorthand for an impossible inversion of the exploratory vibrance of avant-garde/experimental culture and the hegemonic ubiquity of "commercial culture."

A champion of unbridled, open curiosity dedicated to inclusive ludic subversion, host Leo Daedalus plays quixotic jester in the court of commercial spectacle, co-opting late-night TV structures in service of the deeply interesting, the sharply ludicrous, the thoughtfully unexpected, and the rigorously uncategorizable. He and his audiences have a blast navigating the boisterous waters between the Scylla of elitist insularity and the Charybdis of reactive slovenliness.

The show takes place on Friday, Oct. 5 at 8:00pm (Doors open at 7:00 along with the bar) at West of Lenin (Fremont) 203 North 36th St., Seattle, Wash. Tickets: $10 - $18, www.brownpapertickets.com/event/272116. For more information, visit www.thelatenow.com.
