Starbucks 18th Annual Hot Java Cool Jazz Concert Set for Paramount Stage, 3/22

-Starbucks-18th-Annual-Hot-Java-Cool-Jazz-20010101

The stage is set for Starbucks 18th Annual Hot Java Cool Jazz to once again delight Seattle-area jazz fans as the region's top young musicians come together for a special show at the Paramount Theatre. Proceeds from the night's performances benefit the music programs of the participating schools which this year includes: Garfield, Newport, Mountlake Terrace, Roosevelt and Ballard. The show will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m. Since its inception in 1995, Starbucks Hot Java Cool Jazz has raised more than $300,000 for participating schools' music programs.

"Hot Java Cool Jazz is a celebration of rising young talent and great jazz in our hometown." said Rodney Hines, director of Community Investments for Starbucks. "We are extremely proud of the impact Hot Java Cool Jazz has had to inspire, engage, and develop skills for young people in our community."

This special night of performance, showcases the talent that is bringing Puget Sound jazz programs national accolades. Hot Java Cool Jazz participants regularly earn top honors at Essentially Ellington, the preeminent national competition for high school jazz held at the New York's Lincoln Center each spring.

The critically needed funds raised through Hot Java Cool Jazz help the bands cover competition, equipment and travel costs. Total ticket sales are split among the performing bands. Last year's event raised over $50,000 for local programs. In addition to Hot Java Cool Jazz, Starbucks supports local arts education through Seattle Theatre Group's More Music at the Moore and Dance This; and the new fan favorite Little Big Show at the Neptune Theatre.

Last year's show sold out, so fans are encouraged to buy tickets in advance at the Paramount Theatre box office, online at www.STGpresents.org or surcharge-free at select Starbucks stores, listed below for $20 (all ages). Proceeds from the tickets sold at the Starbucks store closest to each school will go to that school's music program.
