Seattle's Half Brothers Return to the Stage, 5/13-14

Seattles_Half_Brothers_Return_to_the_Stage_51314_20010101

After a two year absence from the Seattle stage, the Half Brothers return for a night at Theatre Off Jackson, and they're bringing their friends from "Awesome" and Jose Bold along with them.

After developing a cult following for their off-kilter brand of musical storytelling and showmanship, in 2009 the Half Brothers mysteriously vanished without a trace. Now they're back and ready to burn up the TOJ stage with their trademark bluegrass fierceness and impeccable three-part harmonies. On Friday night they will be joined by Seattle's own Jose Bold, and Saturday's performance is a CD release party for beloved Seattle art-theater band "Awesome." Both nights promise an intoxicating blend of music, storytelling and humor, sure to delight fans young and old.

RETURN OF THE NIGHT OF THE HALF BROTHERS features: John Ackermann, Kirk Anderson (Saturday night), Basil Harris (Saturday night), Rick Miller, Evan Mosher (Saturday night), David Nixon, and John Osebold.

This event is produced in partnership with Theatre Off Jackson.

Performances will be held at the Theatre Off Jackson on Friday May 13th and Saturday May 14th at 7:30 PM. $10 Advance tickets are available on-line through Brown Paper Tickets at www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are $13 on the day of the show.

About Theatre Off Jackson
Theatre Off Jackson (TOJ) ensures that a vibrant arts culture thrives in Seattle by operating a sustainable venue dedicated to performance, art and community. TOJ co-produces shows with many of Seattle's finest artists, and has hosted full seasons of performance of all types since 2005.

About the Half Brothers
The Half Brothers started entertaining audiences with songs about food, traveling and death in 2006. Replete with lush three-part vocal harmonies and tight, intricate string-band arrangements, their songs are noteworthy for non-traditional lyrics and an oddly reverent irreverence for this uniquely American musical form. They have graced the barroom stages of Chop Suey, the Sunset, Jules Mae's and Conor Byrne as well as the theatrical stages of Annex Theatre, On The Boards, Seattle Town Hall and Theatre Off Jackson. Their piece Things Have Never Been the Same was performed at the 2008 Bumbershoot Festival.

About Jose Bold
Jose Bold, aka John Osebold, records and releases a free December album every year at josebold.com, and creates stage shows. He recently made a film about a mountain, then deconstructed Spider-Man in a show and took it to NYC. Who knows what he's going to do for this event.

About "Awesome"
Part band, part art-collective, "Awesome" has been casting its absurdist magic in rock clubs, theater stages, cabarets, and art galleries since 2003. They have created three full-length theatrical concept-album performance pieces; Delaware, a Subtle Spectacular, noSIGNAL, and West. Along the way they have gathered a cult following of theatre folk, art-world enthusiasts, and indie-music fans. This May, they will be releasing their long-awaited third album, featuring songs from all periods of their existence.
