Following MAP Theatre's inaugural production, 3 Screams by Vincent Delaney in 2011, MAP is poised to present their second mainstage show, the Seattle premiere of Carter W. Lewis' Soft Click of a Switch, running September 13-28 at West of Lenin.

Carter W. Lewis' Soft Click of a Switch is a darkly comic platonic love story about two strangers, Ed and Earl. Young and unpredictable, Ed wants to Do Something Big And Important by leaving a permanent mark on the world, while the middle-aged Earl wants nothing more than to forget everything. With instructions from a library book, Ed and Earl start building bombs...out of air conditioner parts. Before long, unattended drive-through fotomats start exploding in the night and the two become notorious in the tabloids.

Published in 1998, Soft Click of a Switch is a story ahead of its time, written in the days before the term Domestic Terrorist became common vernacular. Soft Click of a Switch is an exploration of the disaffected and disenfranchised, presenting its characters in three dimensions rather than as societal ogres shaped by media-framed sound bites, bullet point factoids or the typical neighborhood buzz, "He seemed nice, and mostly kept to himself."

"To paraphrase Anton Chekhov, its not our job to tell you that horse thieves are evil, but rather to show you what these particular horse thieves are like," says director, Peggy Gannon. "Ed and Earl choose to deal with the aggressively apathetic world around them with violence, but what drives them? Each man alone may have remained inert, but their chemistry together is explosive."

Soft Click of a Switch is directed by Peggy Gannon (Theater Schmeater's A Behanding in Spokane), and features the acting talents of Brandon Ryan (MAP Theatre's 3 Screams and SecondStory Repertory's Amadeus) and Mark Fullerton (Seattle Public Theater's Arms and the Man and Mauritius).

Soft Click of a Switch is stage managed by Sarah Bixler and features the design talents of Suzi Tucker (Scenic Design), Terra Morgan Mullis (Lighting Design),Shane Regan (Sound Design and Marketing Graphics), Julia Evanovich (Costume Design), Jodi Saurebier (Props), and Rachel Delmar (Social Media and Photo Installation).

Soft Click of a Switch previews Thursday, September 12 @ 8:00pm with performances running September 13-28, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday @ 8:00pm with an additional show Monday, September 23 @ 8:00pm.

All shows will be at West of Lenin located at 203 North 36th Street, Seattle, WA, 98103.
