LES MIZ Set to Return to 5th Avenue Theatre, 6/27-7/7

LES-MIZ-Set-to-Return-to-5th-Street-Theatre-20010101

Due to popular demand, Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Les Misérables will return to Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre for a spectacular two-week engagement, June 27-July 7, 2012.

Starting at $49.00, tickets to the return engagement of Les Misérables will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, March 29 and may be purchased at www.5thavenue.org, by phone at 206-625-1900, or at the Box Office at 1308 5th Avenue in downtown Seattle. Tickets will be available online beginning at 12:01 AM, and will be available at the Box Office beginning at 10:00 AM.

Les Misérables shattered box office records during its three-week run at The 5th Avenue Theatre (August 9-27, 2011), filling the theater to a stunning 99.01% capacity of over 50,000 patrons and hitting a gross box-office receipt total of over $4 million.   Les Miz also broke the record for a single performance gross.

"Seattle audiences have always loved Les Miz" says producer Cameron Mackintosh. "But the reaction to the new production last year was so phenomenal, and tickets went so fast, that – to say thank you – we wanted Seattle to be the first city that we returned to on this remarkable sell-out national tour."

Producer Cameron Mackintosh's reimagined production of Boublil and Schönberg's Les Misérables has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer from the original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, additional material by James Fenton and original adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.

The original Les Misérables orchestrations are by John Cameron with new orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke and additional orchestrations by Stephen Metcalfe and Stephen Brooker.  The production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell, designed by Matt Kinley (who was inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo) with costumes by Andreane Neofitou and additional costumes by Christine Rowlands, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, musical staging by Michael Ashcroft and projections by Fifty-Nine Productions.

Seen by nearly 60 million people worldwide in 42 countries and in 21 languages, Les Misérables is undisputedly one of the world's most popular musicals ever written, with new productions continuing to open around the globe. There have been 36 cast recordings of Les Misérables, including a multi-platinum London cast recording, a Grammy Award-winning Broadway cast album, complete symphonic albums, and the live recording of the new 25th Anniversary production. Cameron Mackintosh is currently developing the film of Les Misérables with Working Title and Universal.
