Intiman Theatre Presents 'All The King's Men' Starting 9/26

Intiman Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Bartlett Sher and Interim Managing Director Kevin Maifeld, concludes it inaugural American Cycle series with Adrian Hall’s adaptation of one of the greatest political novels ever written, Robert Penn Warren’s All the King’s Men. The production is directed by Pam Mackinnon and stars John Procaccino (leading an ensemble of 18 actors) as Willie Stark. Performances will begin at the Intiman Playhouse, 201 Mercer Street at Seattle Center, on Friday, September 26 and continue through Saturday, November 8. The opening night performance is Friday, October 3 at 8 pm.

Tickets for All the King’s Men range in price from $10 to $50, with discounts available for students and groups. Patrons aged 25 and under can purchase tickets to any performance for $10, pending availability. A limited number of $20 rush tickets may be available for purchase 15 minutes before curtain time, pending availability. Tickets are available from www.intiman.org or 206.269.1900.

All the King’s Men is the centerpiece of Intiman’s American Cycle series of classic stories and civic dialogue. Free American Cycle community programs will take place at Intiman and in schools, libraries and neighborhood gathering spots from September-November. The American Cycle is sponsored by The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, The Boeing Company, PONCHO, WaMu, Microsoft Corporation, National Endowment for the Arts and Ameriprise Financial.

Scheduled to coincide with the presidential election season, All the King’s Men is a monumental tale of politics, power and history. Robert Penn Warren received his first Pulitzer Prize for the novel, which he based on the life of Louisiana Governor Huey “Kingfish” Long, the radical populist known for his political slogan “Every man a king.” Warren was subsequently honored with two more Pulitzers for volumes of his poetry.

John Procaccino stars as Willie Stark and Leo Marks makes his Intiman debut as Jack Burden. Also featured in the ensemble are Philip Davidson (Judge Irwin), Lori Larsen (Mother), Eddie Levi Lee (Tiny Duffy), Todd Licea (Adam Stanton), Deirdre Madigan (Sadie Burke), Peter Dylan O’Connor (Sugar-Boy), Larry Paulsen (Ellis Burden) and Betsy Schwartz (Anne Stanton).

The cast also includes Zaki Abdelhamid, Amy Fleetwood, Mark Fullerton, Alyssa Keene, Edd Key, James Lapan, Marty Mukhalian and Michael Patten.

Director Pam Mackinnon most recently directed the world premieres of Maria/Stuart by Jason Grote at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and Edward Albee’s Occupant at Signature Theatre in New York. Other recent credits include two plays by Itamar Moses, The Four of Us (Manhattan Theatre Club) and Bach at Leipzig (New York Theatre Workshop), Edward Albee’s Peter and Jerry (Second Stage) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Good Boys and True (Steppenwolf Theatre Company).

The creative team includes scenic designer Tony Cisek, costume designer Deb Trout, lighting designer Colin K. Bills and sound designer Joseph Swartz. The music direction and original arrangements are by Edd Key, the dialect coach is Judith Shahn, the New York casting is by Janet Foster, C.S.A. and the stage manager is William Vann Carlton.
