Drybones Theater Company's COSTLY DESIRES Comes to Greenwood Square, Nov 9 & 10

Costly Desires runs November 9th and 10th at 8pm at Greenwood Square, 8420 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle, Washington.

What happens when you place your heart's desires in the wrong hands? When your life is literally taken from you against your will? Costly Desires is a show about sex trafficking in the United States; it follows the lives of two women, Mari and Yen, and John, the man who buys them. Yen longs for a better life for her son and Mari longs for love, both their dreams are exploited and they find themselves trapped in the sex trade with little hope of escape. John, a man struggling with his broken marriage, turns to these two women for comfort unaware that they are modern day slaves controlled by those who claim ownership over them.

Costly Desires is a multi-media play. Yen, Mari, and John’s stories are told through film, dance, music, and theater. It is a visual feast that will not only move you but will open your eyes to the struggles that men and women caught up in sex trade experience every day.

Costly Desires is the debut production of Drybones Theater Company. Drybones uses live performance to quench the thirst of a culture parched for change. The company is passionate about social justice and using theater to bring about changes in our city and in our culture. Drybones Theater Company will donate all the proceeds from our tickets sales to the Genesis Project and REST, two organizations working to stop sex trafficking.

Costly Desires was created by a team of Seattle professional’s who are all experts in their fields. The show was written and is directed by Megan Becker, a professional actress with an M.F.A in theater from the New School in New York, Kari Zimmerman a professional actress from New York, and Matt Parker a professional actor who can be seen in Taproot’s upcoming production of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol. Costly Desires was choreographed by Katy Hagelin, an up and coming local choreographer, features original music by Chris Ingrao, and film and media by Bernard Mann, who teaches at the Seattle Film Forum and worked professionally in L.A. for a number of years. This amazingly talented team worked together for months to produce this incredibly moving show.

Tickets are $15.00. To buy tickets, click HERE. There only 60 seats available a night so get your tickets right away. If you bring a group of 10 people or more you get a free bottle of wine!
