Cornish College of the Arts Annoucnes Fall 2012 Events

Cornish College of the Arts produces and presents more than 150 arts and cultural events each year, all open to the public. Performances and exhibitions feature Cornish students, the next generation of artists-in fine art, design, dance, music, theater, and performance production-just before they begin to make their mark around the world. Audiences also experience the mastery of Cornish faculty and visiting artists, some of the finest artistic professionals from the region and around the world in all disciplines.

This year, Cornish events range from an exhibition of contemporary Northwest artists in old ghost ranges, sunken rivers, come again; the West Coast premiere of Punk Rock, a new play by Simon Stephens, one of Britain's hottest new playwrights, directed by Cornish alum Wayne Rawley (TH '93); Cornish Dance Theater performing choreography by Danielle Agami, Camille A. Brown, Pat Hon, and Wade Madsen; Cornish Opera Theater's production of John Blow's Venus and Adonis, in a bold new staging by director James Darrah and visual artist Susie J. Lee, and a new Cornish event, Our Creative Society: Beyond Art. Creative Thinking in Contemporary Culture, featuring David Shields, New York Times bestselling essayist and author of Reality Hunger: A Manifesto.
